Go to www.bluecity.perguia.it and read the Italian review by Italy's top blues and jazz magazine BLUE CITY.

For those of you who don't read Italian, here's a translation:

We begin our “talent scout” page with a new American band, to give our readers information and links to bands not well know but with explosive potentials (this is word for word). From the first time you listen to them, Pepper and the Sensations makes you think: “wow, what bands are playing around the States, and they are not famous yet!”

The pieces are smooth and fast, pulled by the swing of the rhythmic section clean and very precise and the mix of the instruments is excellent (Sorry I don’t know the music slang so this is my translation?). At times truly exciting, the music of Pepper uses the classic instruments of blues at best, all “enriched” by the fiati (maybe the sax?) of Matt Kennedy, the guitar of Mike Hayward and the harmonica of Tom O’Connell. From swing to shuffle to blues, an alchemy of sounds never boring or repetitive.

A good product, well done, with its own precise style, that comes mainly from the guitar other than from the touch of Pepper, drummer and bandleader. The pieces I like best are Margaret’s Mood, Shake Yo’Boogie, South American Maracas, Rainin’ in my heart and Stickin at the end of the cd.

Pepper was honored by the appreciative and supportive review by this outstanding European publication. A European tour for the summer of 2006 is in the works and Pepper is hoping all of that falls together over the next few months.  Keep visiting our web site for our local gigs, we are always happy to see you at the venues.

CD Review The Sensations - Keep it Hot

The Sensations are an 8 piece blues band from Maine on the North Atlantic coast of America, who play a rousing style of Chicago blues with horn and keyboard section.

The Senations got in touch with me a couple of months back to check out their new recording, the band is led by drummer and vocalist 'Pepper'.

All can say for now, it's pretty awsome!

Full review in Slim's Blues at the end of the month.

"Keep It Hot"  the new cd release from The Sensations has been selling briskly. We had a lot of sales at the 2005 North Atlantic Blues Festival despite the very rainy chilly performance day weather.  The band members enjoyed playing on the festival's main stage.  The sound crew did a wonderful job even with the unfavorable and unseasonable weather conditions. Think sideways driving rain, 50 degrees Fahrenheit,  with a strong wind off the ocean!

Hardly a true comparison, but being the opening act at 11AM, the band members felt like we were the first wave of troops landing on the beach at D-Day. Someone had to go first.  Somehow the festival needed to start on time.  So with all of the equipment and instruments wet, we opened up with track #1 from our cd, Magahett's Mood.  We grabbed a hold of the small but dedicated blues crowd and played four other cuts from "Keep It Hot".  Damped but not without our sprit we played our hearts out.  Truly an experience I won't ever forget.  The North Atlantic Blues Festival is class act and we were honored to be included with a such a stellar line up and festival venue.

In just the first couple of weeks since it's release "Keep It Hot" is receiving national and international radio airplay from Portland Maine, Boston Massachusetts, London England and South America!  CD sales from www.cdbaby.com are a plus as well as our web site and gig sales.  Love to get a copy to you.  Just visit the stuff icon and we will send one out the day of your order.
